At the cost of his empire, Rameses III imprisoned the horror beneath the sands of Luxor, where it has slumbered ever since. In 1924, a team of visiting archaeologists unearthed the last remaining testament of that ancient mystery, only to unleash a terror from out of time. Now death stalks the dusty streets of Luxor and a new age of horror is at hand. Can your investigators succeed where the mightiest of pharaohs have failed? Or will they fall victim to Luxor's secret past? Set throughout the globe and torn from the pages of the hidden history of the world, Age of Cthulhu adventures bring new secrets and mind-bending horrors to your 1920's Call of Cthulhu game. Each adventure comes with copious player handouts, detailed maps, and pre-generated investigators ready to risk their lives and their sanity to confront the horros of an uncaring universe. ==Comments / Trivia== This supplement is the first released by Goodman Games under license from Chaosium. ==Links== * Review by Venger Satanis on RPG.net * Review by Jeff McSpadden on RPG.net * Review by Kevin H on Lost Coast Mythos * Review by Demian Katz on OgreCave ==Spoilers - Keepers Eyes Only== Players should not read any further. <!-- DO NOT DELETE THE LINE IMMEDIATELY ABOVE --> ===Synopsis=== Death in Luxor is a scenario set in 1926 around the Egyptian city of Luxor. The investigators are friends or associates of Professor Aaron Bollacher, an archaeologist who has recently made a discovery of carvings depicting the defeat of "the Sea Peoples" by one of the pharaohs. In reality these peoples were post-Atlantean "sub-humans" who were closely associated with Deep Ones and who worshipped a Star Spawn known as Aat-noth. The professor has summoned the characters to assit, but his subsequent investigations (and the discovery that his wife is having an affair) have driven him insane. By the time the investigators arrive in Luxor, his rampage has left almost everyone in the Chicago Institute dead. The Investigators need to piece together clues to pursue three different factions who are trying to find the crypt in which the pharaoh imprisoned an army of Deep Ones and the location of the Star Spawn itself. ===References=== Player Handouts: * A Telegram * A Carved Stone * A Letter from Rose Bollacher * Jamison's Expedition Log * Photograph of a Tomb * An Unsigned Letter, * Inscriptions on an Idol * Sketch of the Star Spawn Idol * Hieroglyphs on a Sarcophagus Locations: Luxor, Egypt and surrounds Creatures: Deep Ones, Shoggoths, Aat-noth (a Star Spawn) Tomes and Artifacts: Campaigns / Scenarios: The scenarios published under the Age of Cthulhu banner are all loosely connected ===Comments=== Includes five pre-generated characters which can optionally be used. Also has very detailed rendered (Black & White) maps of all areas. ===Keeper Comments=== The tone of this adventure is more "pulpy" than most material published for Call of Cthulhu; Keepers and players familiar with the normal tone of the game may find the investigative elements a little superficial, more akin to similar scenarios written for games such as D&D. Comments to Keepers about this scenario; Possibly how to run it successfully. Keep general DISCUSSION on the talk page. __NOTOC__
