NIGHT ...
... FALLS
"Run!"
Alan's hoarse voice cracks as he pushes his sister forward. In the darkness, he slips on the rain-slicked mud. Blinding pain lances through his shattered wrist. Exhaustion is filling his legs, his lungs, his mind. But he thinks of his sister ... in that basement ... and keeps going.
"Just a little bit further, Karen. Head for those trees."
Behind them, the old man stops. He could keep chasing them, maybe even catch them, but he knows where they're going. The lady and her brother are heading for the swamp, and that's one place the old man knows he has no business going.
He loses sight of them when they hit the trees, but he can hear them crushing and sploshing around. Then silence... and a long, hysterical scream. A flock of crows explodes out of the foliage.
An unnatural shiver runs down the old man's spine and he nods to himself.
It's a shame to lose the lady like that. She was gifted, stronger than the rest. But she was only one; he will still be well-rewarded for the rest of them.
"The NOCTURNUM campaign introduces a new alien evil to your Call of Cthulhu game. LONG SHADES, the first book in this campaign, contains a wealth of background material on this malignant new force, as well as three complete adventures: Snowflake Valley, The Madness of The Twilight Queen and Stillness. Each highly-detailed adventure can be played as part of a longer campaign, or as a stand-alone adventure in your current campaign.
"LONG SHADES is a postmodern campaign sourcebook for the Call of Cthulhu roleplaying game. The background and adventures detailed in LONG SHADES are also easily adaptable to most other horror roleplaying systems."
Twelve cycles in each week.
One in nine block the eye.
The golden orb, an ebon hand.
Ashothero, the hour draws near.
