To date two editions of this book have been published, each under a different title. The two books have virtually identically content. Both are organized into sections as follows: * Introduction * French/Cajun Pronunciation Guide * History of New Orleans ** Historical Events ** Getting There ** Social Customs ** Creole-Cajun Name Generator ** Mardi Gras Themes ** 1920's New Orleans Occupations ** New Orleans in Different Eras * The French Quarter ** French Quarter Buildings ** Cities of the Dead ** Below the French Quarter ** Areas of Interest ** Jean Lafitte ** La Santa Hermandad * The Greater City ** On the Waterfront ** Rampart Street ** The Zobop ** Garden District ** Universities ** Lake Pontchartrain ** Plantations ** Areas of Interest ** The Ku Klux Klan * Bayou Country ** Traveling the Swamplands ** Cajuns ** "The Call of Cthulhu" ** Oil-drilling Complexes ** Indian Burial Mounds ** The Esoteric Order of Dagon ** Arcadian Coast ** The Mafia * Voodoo ** Humfor ** Black Spiritualist Churches ** Mambo and Hungans ** Conjure Doctors and Bokor ** Voodoo and the Mythos ** Loa ** Voodoo Grimoire ** Marie Laveau * Scenario: Twilight of the Fifth Sun * Bibliographical Resources * Index. '''Scenarios:''' [[Twilight of the Fifth Sun]] ==1st Edition Front Cover Text== 1920s Horror Sourcebook ==1st Edition Back Cover Text== The New Orleans Guidebook New Orleans in the 1920's is a city of many faces. The gaiety of Mardi Gras is juxtaposed with the rampant corruption that earned New Orleans the nickname "The City That Care Forgot." The genteel decline of the French Quarter, the location of the city’s original settlement, stands contrast to the rich opulence of the Garden District, where the Americans later built their mansions. Voodoo and Catholicism exist peacefully side by side. And beneath it all, the face of the Mythos can sometimes be glimpsed .... This guidebook includes detailed chapters on: the history of New Orleans, the French Quarter and the greater city, and the bayous and coastal area. A chapter on voodoo includes guidelines for integrating it into Call of Cthulhu. New occupations unique to the Crescent City and the area are suggested, and five secret societies are covered. A scenario designed to acquaint investigators with most of New Orleans' areas completes the book. <also includes an advertisement for Chaosium's Call of Cthulhu line of roleplaying supplements> <also includes an advertisement for Chaosium's "Mythos" collectable card game> ==2nd Edition Front Cover Text== 1920s A 1920s Sourcebook to the Crescent City ==2nd Edition Back Cover Text== Secrets of New Orleans New Orleans in the 1920's is a city of many faces. This is the only "2nd edition" of a Chaosium book which does not add new material (or remove material). The changes made are mostly cosmetic, bringing the book's layout in line with that used in other sourcebooks from similar vintage. ==Links== ==Spoilers - Keepers Eyes Only== '''Players should not read any further.''' <!-- DO NOT DELETE THE LINE IMMEDIATELY ABOVE --> Comment here to Keepers about this book.
