Back Cover Text

Therese really doesn't want to go to work today.

She didn't sleep well last night. The riots kept her up most of the night. They've been getting much worst these days, now that the comet is visible in the sky. It's one thing to know the end of the world is near. It's another thing to actually see it.

Of course, not everyone is panicking in the streets. Some people keep on like nothing is happening. Some people, like Therese's employer, expect their workers to do the same. "He must be crazy," Therese mutters to herself, then realizes she may be right. The old man has been acting strange recently, paranoid and anxious. Employee attendance has been dropping due to the comet, and he seems to be take it personally.

"You're late," growls Therese's boss as she walks through the door. She tries not to notice his unkempt hair and disheveled clothes. His eyes are wild.

"I'm sorry. There was a fire on the street and..."

"Sorry? The most important work day of the year and you're late? Oh, you'll be sorry all right!"

Therese looks at the old man with confusion, then cold, terrible understanding as she sees the shotgun in his hands.

"Oh yes. You'll be sorry."

Nobody hears the blast of the shotgun. Nobody cares. In the distance, fire blooms against the still-dark morning sky.

The NOCTURNUM campaign expands your Call of Cthulhu game with a malign new evil and an ancient conspiracy against humanity. In DEEP SECRETS, the third and final book in the NOCTURNUM campaign, players find themselves at the brink of insanity that lingers at the end of the world. At the eve of destruction they make their way to their final destination, only to find that everything they know is wrong.

"DEEP SECRETS is a postmodern campaign sourcebook for the Call of Cthulhu roleplaying game. The background and adventures detailed in DEEP SECRETS are also easily adaptable to most other horror roleplaying systems."

Twelve cycles in each week.
One in nine block the eye.
The golden orb, an ebon hand.
Ashothero, the hour draws near.
--Nostradamus
